About the Blog
When I was a teenager I suffered with intense depression and anxiety. I felt like I had no one to talk to about it because I had no idea what was wrong with me!! I thought I was the only one who felt this way until I Googled it and found other people on the internet feeling the same way! I instantly felt not alone and I learned that what I was feeling was treatable and there was hope for recovery. This was the beginning of my intense passion for mental health awareness.
Whenever I would look up mental health information online I would only find articles that were extremely medical in nature which would make me feel very alienated. I wanted to create a place on the internet where people could learn about mental health in a fun way as well be reassured that they are not alone.
I have been creating mental health content for about 4 years now and I have loved every minute of it! I have traveled the world sharing my story in the hopes of helping others. I am 100% fulfilled when I get an email, snapchat, or a comment saying that I have inspired someone to talk about their mental health or start their own advocacy journey. My followers are really what keeps me motivated and helps me continue do what I love!
A Little About Me
When I was growing up I loved creating videos. The first video I remember making was filming Star Wars action figures fight crime with my best friend’s Barbie video camera. In high school my next door neighbor thought something was wrong with me because I would always be on my front lawn filming music videos with my friends (she just didn’t understand the creative process). When I started college my dream was to work in film. I had to take a Psychology class for college credit and I ended up falling in love. Five years later, I graduated from California State University – Sacramento with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology.
FUN FACTS: I am 23 years old, I have a younger brother, and I live in Sacramento, CA! I have a passion for peppermint tea, cats, and journaling! My favorite artists are Tom Rosenthal, Dodie Clark, Coldplay, and Melanie Martinez! I can spend hours talking about my favorite movies with you.
